Now first off, let me state that I considered myself to be as anti-censorship as anyone could possibly be. Art should be protected as free speech and even shitty Hollywood movies that aren't real art are granted that protection. I'm ok with any "offensive content" especially when it is under the guise of comedy. If I had a 15-year kid, I wouldn't mind if he watched A Serbian Film and jacked off to whatever bestiality porn he wanted.

Now, to the movie. Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8E0UJBCrTgA

I absolutely do not think people should be allowed to make a movie like this. North Korea is a real life, serious business topic, not to be joked about. The is an unstable situation. We know that the North Korean government twists stuff and lies to their people, and here we are giving them a golden opportunity to work with. Joking about using an American celebrity to assassinate their leader? This is way too similar to the recent Dennis Rodman visits. To have an American company even suggest the idea, in a joking manner, that America would try to assassinate the Kim Jong Un is just asking for trouble.

I'm sure you all think I'm being ridiculous, but this is my first time seeing something that I absolutely think that needs censorship.

Would you have censored The Great Dictator?

(not that I'm comparing Chaplin and Rogan)

It's easy to answer that with the benefit of knowing history: No.

Hitler had invaded Poland years before the movie was released. You can't instigate something that had already blown up into World War. Although America wouldn't officially join the war until 10 months after the movie was released, by that time the American government was already involved in the opposing the Axis and knew that war would be declared soon. If anything, the movie could be soon as a needed wakeup call to Americans. History now paints America going to war as being the right thing to do. Therefore, it's easy to look back and say the film was a positive thing.

The difference in the case of The Interview is that an official military conflict with North Korea is not already inevitable. It is a possibility, but still avoidable. Things are very much unstable.

I would say that The Interview movie is just a few steps shy of making a movie in which the Prophet Mohammed is depicted by an actor. The American Constitution protects the right for its citizens to do that, but it's still a horrible idea because it gives people fuel to hate you.

It is what it is.

If it really pisses them off I don't care. It is a movie.

And have you never seen Team America?

People should be able to make a movie about whatever they want. Southpark goes farther than this. If people don't like what it's about then don't watch it.

Do you think it would be ok to make a comedy movie in which the Prophet Mohammaed was depicted by an actor?
