"Utopia" and "Black Mirror" are two of the more newer british series that just blew my mind. Both are dystopian fictional stories.
So creative, so aesthetic, just really different from the 0815 same crap american stuff like walking dead or under the dome.

Sherlock and Luther are amazing series as well with very well writtin characters.

If anybody is looking for something new to watch, I can recommend all of these.

For Comedy, check out Black Books and the IT Crowd, both really fun (but with alot of slapstick, cause thats exactly british humor).

IT Crowd is decent, but it's not as funny as The Office or Parks and Rec

Sherlock is good, but it's a top budget production starring major actors. Really better to compare to something like House of Cards. It's about in the same league as that. Just comes down to a minor difference in personal taste.

Why Are British Series Just Better?

i forget the psychological term, but basically you are looking at a few outliers which stand out, so you think they're all like that. it's difficult to do an apples-apples comparison when it comes to tv shows because you have to consider a lot of factors (how many shows came out, what were their budgets, genres, etc). it's not a fair comparison to hand pick the best UK shows and compare it with a few US shows.

Well not much things beat sopranos, the wire, dexter, broadwalk empire. the yanks do serial killers, gangsters well. i guess america has more real life dealings with that sort of stuff alot more in real life.

there is a few better period dramas that britians do better, like Ripper street was really good, so im guessing if you have a more varied history you can do it better.

but the brits have better comedies always have really.

Let me know when they can top True Detective, House of Cards, or Breaking Bad. Cause as good as Sherlock is, it ain't it...

The closest they have come is 'This Is England' imo.
