Basic Plot: Earth runs out of food, storms devastate the planet, and so people are forced to leave to find a new home on a distant world using interstellar travel. The movie plays on the concepts of time travel, wormholes, black holes, neutron star collisions, etc. It is a very plausible science fiction movie with real elements that could potentially occur in the future. Seems awesome.

quite an original storyline

I would much rather watch a great movie with an unoriginal storyline than a shitty movie with an original storyline.

For example, Godzilla was very entertaining despite the storyline being very "unoriginal."

I would much prefer a movie with an original storyline and have it be a good movie at the same time. But I'd agree with you if those are the only two options
