I know alot of people hated the ending but i thought it was fitting based on the themes of the last season and through out the show

dexter should come back lol, theres many more stories to be told, even though with debra gone it will be lacking.

It was ok.

The problem wasnt the ending, but the season 8 should have been switched with the season 2. The season 2 was the only season about dexteŕs life, and him almost being caught.

Season 8 was just about another serial killer, which was kinda stupid for a last season

2 was good with doakes on dexters ass all the time.

but season 4 was the best imo, john lithgow is a scary man in this.

i thought the ending was good

he needed to be secluded

the problem i had with the ending is that it coulda happened as the finale of any of the previous seasons. I wanted an ending special to THAT season or the overall series, not just a generic ending

Debrah should have died Season 1 Episode 1.

Dexter should have died in the storm. A fitting "consequence" for all the years of murder.

Doakes should have come back and kicked through the door to Dexter's shack and screamed "Surprise, motherfucker!"

That would've been a great ending.

The show went downhill after season 4. Honestly I can't remember season 5-7, just some parts of them.

Maybe because I've only watched them that one time. I've rewatched season 1-4 a couple of times and enjoyed the crap out of them.

It's a shame, Dexter started out amazing, but the second half of the seasons were quite bad.

And then the camera pulls back and back and back and then we realize, 'No, it's not a dream.' Dexter's opening his eyes and he's on the execution table at the Florida Penitentiary. They're just starting to administer the drugs and he looks out through the window to the observation gallery.

"And in the gallery are all the people that Dexter killed—including the Trinity Killer and the Ice Truck Killer (his brother Rudy), LaGuerta who he was responsible killing, Doakes who he's arguably responsible for, Rita, who he's arguably responsible for, Lila. All the big deaths, and also whoever the weekly episodic kills were. They are all there.

"That's what I envisioned for the ending of Dexter. That everything we've seen over the past eight seasons has happened in the several seconds from the time they start Dexter's execution to the time they finish the execution and he dies. Literally, his life flashed before his eyes as he was about to die. I think it would have been a great, epic, very satisfying conclusion."
