Good solid movie, as one not familiar with the story I was not sure if he would live or die for a lot of the movie.

But it does have me questioning why ships aren't allowed to use lethal force against pirates. Honestly its pretty stupid imo. Kill them until they stop or are all dead. No sympathy.

Yeah pretty good movie
Tom hanks could win an oscar only because of the last scene. So emotional.

They are allowed
Some even hire private security or PMC's
I guess the company he was working for was too cheap
Edit: Read that they don't due to possible insurance issues if something were to go wrong

I think the ending could have been handled a bit better personally. After the pirates were shot and he yelled out a cut to black would have been pretty powerful. Then they could have switched to the pirate getting arrested and back to phillips in the walk to the medbay. Watching him getting pulled out of the lifeboat was completely unnecessary. But thats just my opinion and only grievance

Is one trained sniper in a crows nest too much to ask

Ending was perfect imo.

i almost cried

Story would have been exactly the same if they cut out after his scream. Its just a directing/editing technique that I felt would have been more powerful.
