'Expecting' would be too strong a word, but I did consider the possibility that TV producers have realized that smart, dramatic shows with character depth represent the new wave of television. I particularly hoped that this would be understood by Joss Whedon of all people, considering he was ahead of the curve in this area 12 years ago. But alas, each new thing he does makes the greatness of Firefly seem more and more distant, almost like the "specialness" of it is being sapped.
It's unreasonable to expect ABC to pull off anything in the neighborhood of the current greats (BB, WD, GoT etc) but even their own show Once Upon a Time has the right idea in terms of structure.
