Nah, I think he's been famous like 20 years but since couple of years he's been auditioning/choosing worthwile films. I guess something just clicked with him to step out of shit and vomit? Could be that he's been desperately wanting to get into 'better' roles but that's probably not the whole picture.
Lincoln Lawyer was allright and I guess it might have established his credibility as a more noteworthy actor too in the eyes of director/production companies. But since he's been working with some more auteurish directors that I'd assume would be more into the audition parts and not caring about actors pasts.
Idk, just rambling here because I don't know how this stuff rolls behind the curtains.
