is it like actual demons and angels type deal or like psychological demons?

No actual demons yet, there is some internal demons that haven't been introduced too deeply yet in the series.
Don't let the title and the trailer mislead you

The show has great potential. I enjoyed season 1 and thought it was fantastic. But it could have been that much better.
