It has to do mainly because the first was in itself...a fucking masterpiece. Can't really top that, even though he's "reinterpreting".

original is in my top 10 all time movies. an american movie CAN NOT end the way korean Oldboy does. 85% of people will be absolutely repulsed if it does. all im hoping is that somehow, by the grace of god, spike lee creates an ending with the same sort of impact as the original.

Samuel L. Jackson is in it? Should be gold.

I'm not really bothered, might watch it.

I don't think it will be good and not just because it's a remake. I just don't see it turning out as interesting. I feel like certain scenes have to be changed because of different cultural understandings and in the end that just makes it less appealing to me.
