its fairly new, horror, 2012 i believe.

there was a movie where there is some house that is haunted.
A book-writter wants to move in and write a story about it.
There are like 5 familys where 1 kid is missing in each.
The missing kid is actually the killer of each of the families, after he/she gets possessed.
The kids video tape the murder of their family, but there is an "extended cut" version that the 'evil spirit' shows only at the end.

it sounds like so many already existing story, most of these being short stories written by Stephen King I reckon. Was it even good?

Not really the only real redeeming quality was how they ended it.
