Anyone seen any of his movies? He's directed five films, of which I've seen two (Two Lovers and We Own the Night) and I think he has tremendous talent and will probably release several truly great films in the future. Two Lovers was probably one of the best movies I've seen from that decade and We Own the Night was a pretty solid film, as well. Both are actor's movies, really, as Joaquin Phoenix does a stellar job in both and I feel like the dynamic between him and Mark Wahlberg, one being the "rebel", so to speak, and the other sticking to the family lines, worked extremely well.

He's got a movie coming out this year with Phoenix in it and it is probably my most anticipated movie so far for 2013.

Gonna check out The Yards in a day or so and I'll probably post a comment or two on that here.

Only seen Two Lovers, is somewhere between allright - pretty good zone for me.

Joaquin Phoenix is indeed nice actor, have you seen I'm still here yet?

I'm more of an amateur-ish guy, myself.

I saw The Yards and felt it was alright, a step back from the other two mentioned here. Interesting bit of trivia on this one (I really hope this is true):

For Leo's and Willie's fight, the actors agreed to actually fight each other. Although they wore knee and elbow pads, everything on screen is actually Joaquin Phoenix and Mark Wahlberg beating each other up. There are no stunts and the entire thing was taken in two takes from three different angles. The next day, the actors were black and blue.

Ha, that is interesting. Who won the fight in the film? I'd imagine Wahlberg came out looking a tad bit better.

Was more or less a draw but yeah, you gotta figure Wahlberg would kick the shit out of Phoenix lol.
