Official Netflix Discussion

Ask or recommend movies to help us all discover new and interesting films hidden on netflix. Post your recent views and give ratings, also discuss and list your instant queue's

It would be lame to set up rules in a thread like this so Ill just ask, if you have a question about netflix try not to ask "Anything good?" read the recommendations and Hopefully, if you ask about a specific movie someone has seen it and can give you some insight. I am really trying to cut down on the "Whats good on netflix" Posts. A lot of good discussions are being pushed down to the bottom because of randoms posting the same thread over and over. Ill get things going.

Recently Watched: "The Game" (1997) Rating: 8.5/10 I loved this movie. At times the plot seemed never ending and unrealistic, but when the curtain lifted and the wizard was revealed I felt satisfied. This is my type of film all the way, it adheres to the thriller style and never lets up on the suspense. Micheal Douglas was on point.

Question: In the drama section Netflix recommended a movie called "Castaway on the Moon" Based on my interest in "Oldboy" "Let the right one in" and "The Man from nowhere" Hae Jun Lee is an unfamiliar director, I'd like to know if this film is worth my time. Usually, netflix doesn't have the balls to suggest a movie with 4.5 stars, so I'm pretty intrigued.

Fincher sucks, but I haven't seen that one, so I can't really comment.

Maids of Wilko (1979) by Andrzej Wajda is quite a good film available from Netflix, though I don't think it's on streaming. It's about regret, longing, moral decisions, among many other things. Daniel Olbrychski gives a terrific performance, and the film has some lovely cinematography to look at. I'd rate it about an 83/100.

Humpday by Lynn Shelton. funny, touching and overall great film.

Daddy Longlegs by the Safdie brothers. Raw and poetic look at a lost father.

It's not me, I swear by Philippe Falardeau. Great film about a troubled child.

"21 Grams"

6/10 There were some good performances from Naomi Watts, Sean Penn, and Banicio Deltoro, along with a plot that wasn't half bad. My two main issues with this movie were the lack of direction in editing and sequence, and the ending. This movie was all over the place, I found it hard to stay focused on the actual movie itself with all the jumps from scene to scene. I get it, its fresh to go against the grain in film these days but try to have some focus. Felt like the director had ADD..

How is Burn Notice and Lie To Me? Both of those shows were recommended to me.
Bones I still need to watch, I imagine I will start it after Breaking Bad. Robin Hood and Merlin sound like cheap TV versions based by the movie.
I don't know what White Collar is?

I recently finished Malcolm In The Middle and My Name Is Earl. They both are more or less cheap humor, but I don't regret watching them.

Burn notice and lie to me are great. I've not finished burn notice yet, but I watched all of Lie to me. I hate the fact that they cancelled Lie to me though
Robin hood I only watched a little bit of, but Merlin I've gotten into more. It is actually something that keeps you interested.
Not sure if this is still on Netflix, but Jericho and Legend of the seeker are also two good series on netflix.
