Warning, spoilers.
My view: Okay, but not great. For alien fans, 5/10. For non alien fans, 3/10. My biggest problems:
1) The alien concentrate that kay injected herself with, we (the viewers) wanted to see her becoming some kind of GOOD alien, to help the humans fight the bad aliens. And/or become some kind of superhuman being. Hugely missed opportunity.
2) We don't see what happens to kay at the end of the movie. Big vacuum. I suppose they call it a cliffhanger, but many alien movies end that way, but we don't get any follow-up. I think that's stupid.
3) Rain very obviously got impaled by the alien towards the end of the movie, falling through that shaft. Yet was completely unhurt. I don't get it. Maybe the alien just scooped her up to impale her with the appendage instead, lol. Very weird. Same thing seems very obviously to happen with kay earlier, yet she survives and manages to just live on. So weird.
4) You're gonna tell me that rain can hold on to a chain against the force of being sucked into the vacuum of space, while the monster alien is getting ripped to shreds by the same force? Big mistake.
5) I just feel like this movie should be different. Doesn't quite deliver. Just a big monster show and not really intelligent writing or scripting. Was hoping for it to get better halfway but it doesn't. Same as the last two alien movies, prometheus and covenant. Prometheus was okay, but they are both, or all three, just not what we want to see. We deserve a masterpiece. It doesn't have to be a big monster show all the way.
Just my views. Maybe alien fanatics find it a masterpiece. I won't argue with them.
