probably not, there so far away from when they lost him
they might meet him again if they ever find a stronghold of tons of people
you know what i mean though, ive never read the comic and it might say something about him in it

He stole their truck remember? They were heading back after trying to rescue him but he was already gone, and their truck was missing.

It may not have been Merl who took the truck, but I think there's a chance it may have been. I highly doubt we'll ever see him again though.
