I was going to watch it regardless of whether it was shit or not

It's actually in my bottom 25 ever, I'm not even trying to hate or be edgy or whatever it's genuinely how I feel. I had to pause the film 20 times and perform some breathing exercises in order to get through it.

The prequel trilogy was really flawed but those films had some neutral characters that weren't just good / evil, there was some politics, slower scenes with dialogue, themes of loss and grief etc.
Star Wars VII establish the good / bad dichotomy in the first five min and the rest of film is 100% bad jokes and special effects.

It's not a genuine work of art, it's merely a plastic soulless product created to make as much money as possible. I'd rather watch some unkown youtuber film his work location in black and white, atleast that guy is trying to create something genuine.

I kind of feel that way too, but I want to watch the next 2 movies before I take a definitive stance on the movie, because I have the feeling that Abrams didn't come up with 3 movies, but rather one 7 hour long movie he is dividing into 3 parts.

It might improve once we see the whole picture.
