So Lance seems like an option, yeah, but for the sake of the show they need someone with ties to the police so I don't think they can unless they replace him

Yeah but neither of those would lead a police force
An actual representative of the police at the scenes since they don't kill people and only help them get arrested

I think with Oliver as Mayor, he would have to choose a Captain to replace Lance... maybe Diggles wife?

You realize a captain isn't really supposed to be on scene ever unless it is like.. Huge... Right? The way the show depicts a police captain is pretty absurd...

It is relevant. If the police captain can go outside his role why can't the mayor or ada go outside theirs and take an increased role in the police department?

Point is that they have enough of a connection without forcing it to be lance, lance just makes it 'easier' (but even then it made a lot more sense when he was a detective).

Got to love this debate... all in all, Captain Lance is a character because of his history with Oliver and he knows his daughters are vigilantes, it has NOTHING to do with Police presence or role
in the show... he just happens to be an Officer of the Law, and this leads to a better story for him being in bed with Damian Dark and what can further evolve in the story.

I still say it is Felicity, it would make a massive impact, just like season 1 of Game of Thrones when one of the main actors got his head cut off.

If it is Felicity, props to them for having the guts to do it. And also I will probably never watch the show again. Can't stand the cancer that is Laurel without someone like Felicity to balance the scale.

One of the plots of the entire show is him being accepted by the city
Obviously the police are super important to that
