I thought when they were up north surrounded by the walkers Jon and everyone would be granted flying abilities  Or Iron man suits would drop down from the sky and they would just blow everything up

I'm fine with the way the scene played out on the island in the bay or whatever. That's the only feasible way for them to last enough time for Dany to fly up there which is the only way they would survive. I am surprised however that they didn't try and keep breaking the ice to buy time. Not just let it freeze.

I'm a little thrown off with the ice spear launch with precision accuracy. I know the NK probably has some serious magic going on but Drogon was hit with a metal spear flung from a scorpion and was barley effected. NK throws a ice spear from however far away and it completely destroys that dragon. "hit in the neck, blah blah." Plus, he completely ignores the stationary Drogon who is much closer to him to hit the other dragon that's flying in the air.

He turns things into walkers, and it's his spear throwing skills you are questioning?

Everything that happened up there was so fucking stupid. At the point where they were surrounded I really thought there was no realistic way around, but I knew Jon wouldn't die... honestly, I was imagining that the walkers would kill everyone, but the Night King would spare and imprison Jon for some future plan... maybe he'd turn out to be immune to icy stuff in the same way Daenerys is to fire or something... that would be weird, but still would make more sense than all the bs that happened.

Yeah I was thinking something similar to that as well

He can only turn things that are dead though!
I totally knew when he was going for the ice spear that it would be a killl shot for sure on whatever he hit.

The idea of waiting until a tired Gendry, who isn't used to long walks, runs back the distance of what seems like a day-long march (looking at how it changed from day to night and back) without any food, rest or water, sends a raven all the way to Dragonstone (which is ridiculously far) and wait for Dany to fly all that distance to their location... it's not something I'd really lable as "feasible".

They'd have to wait like a week without any food or water, and with a horde of zombies waiting next to them.

Those two things aren't really connected, but okay. Just posting my thoughts. I kind of laughed when he grabs a spear, walks past the fire, sticks his left arm out for balance and launches a S.A.M at the dragon. Why not just chuck spears at the crew stuck on the island - not like they can go anywhere and the NK could hit them no problem. He threw an ice spear and the dragon literally exploded into flames.

I agree with you, a lot of plot holes. Given the situation, this was the only thing I could think of that would allow the majority of the group to escape. A more logical conclusion would be they all die or JS is taken prisoner and converted into a walker that can pass through the wall without concern of the magic.

Then again, this is a show about dragons, undead armies, magical resurrections and what not. I'll just laugh off the Brett Farve ice spear scene and enjoy the show. This season has been pretty damn good, minus the time jumps and everyone wearing Enigma to tele around.

I was only getting at the point of him having super powers which bring the dead back. Why wouldn't he have immaculate aim with his weapon? And God damn you on the Enigma joke! Makes perfect sense lol.

Edit: I'm going to go with the only reason he killed the flying one was had he taken out the stationary one the other two could have fucked the walkers up, and it would also keep the NK from getting a dragon.

Only the leaders carry those specially designed ice spears. They're clearly enchanted in some way. It's not a surprise at all that they carry a couple of them with the army as a type of artillery. Just a bunch of foot soldiers would be pretty weak. Also not a surprise if the leaders have supernatural strength.

As for the ratings argument: ratings are useless. Everyone has their own opinions of what is good. Quips, references, cringe, explosions, fan service: there's an audience for them all.

It seems more likely than not that they had basic provisions with them. It never showed them make a fire, but we know they did. Would you have rather we went 5 to 10 episodes of watching Sansa make unimportant decisions in Winterfell, Jaime and Cersei fucking and John and company taking turns sleeping and hardly eating anything vs what happened? There are not enough storylines present anymore to allow for time to pass realistically. Before, when someone was traveling. We wouldn't see them for 2 episodes and then we'd get a blurb of their travel and then 2 episodes later they'd be there. There's not enough shit going on anymore to do this. I can't understand why so many people have such a difficult time with this.

As far as being concerned about the magical ice spear killing the dragon. Are you fucking kidding me?
