i wonder if they are gonna go into more detail about Eden... since they introduced Gadreel and now Cain is gonna be in the next ep......i wonder if gadreel allowed the Serpent to enter Eden.. and since satan was supposed to be the Serpent.... now if you watched the series it took all those seals to be broken for him to be released from hell... and if satan was cast into hell long before adam and eve were made, i dont think those seals could be broken with just those 2.... so maybe it was a demon or something else? and maybe god allowed it to happen... since he is god, you would think he would know what would happen...

Actually, death said and I quote "What do you think the soul is? Some pie you can slice? The soul can be bludgeoned, tortured, but never broken. Not even by me." that does not mean it can be destroyed, doesn't mean it can't be destroyed. He said that after Dean asked him to remove the damaged portion of sam's soul. Like I said, the smiting is a theory. Angel smiting, angel blades, the colt, ruby's knife. We've never seen a death caused by these objects over turned, there's no precedent for them, so it's quite possible that Kevin is gone for good. It's clear demons killed by the previous objects do not show up in purgatory because if yellow eyes was hanging around purgatory, he would've been right after dean the moment he stepped foot inside there. It's clear the angel's don't come back either after getting shanked either. They are essentially souls, so if they can completely vanish from existence, so can kevin.

Not to mention just because a death can be over turned does not mean it would be good for the narrative. So it's not "stupid" as you put it.

Castiel is the only one we have seen come back after being killed by an angel. It is unsure if God brought him back or the female angel who later tried to use him as a slave, I forget her name.

If you're referring to Lucifer snapping his fingers and he exploded. That is an exception because I think it was different kind of death even though cas said that God saved him, there was no blinding light, just raining entrails. He explained it as there was nothing and then he was back. So the theory still fits. God doesn't apply since he can remake anything as he sees fit.

You assume it is different without any real evidence. Even if the vessel exploded Castiel(The angel) would have still been fine, so it had to have been more similar to an actual smiting, imo.

Dont forget he came back after Raphael killed him too, and im betting he used his holy light to smite him, just like Michael did against Anna.

But arent angels different than humans?? Do angels even have a soul?? only humans and demons do, ( demons are from humans which explains why demons have souls )
But I doubt an angel has a soul, its just a celestial body, as when they die, they are gone from existence unless God ( who can pretty much do anything he wants ) brings them back.

Hell im betting God can even revive the archangels, get the 2 out of cage and just smile lol... would love to see everyone together, staring at each in disbelief that God is standing right there and talking about this was a test blah blah, something comical.

Well I think it was Gadreel that even said is you destory the vessel, you destroy the angel, so not sure how smiting would be different
