Kid I appreciate a classic film like alien and can see how that would be scary to a child who wets his pants at night. Maybe back 40 years ago that was the only scary movie out so I can see how people would try to defend it. But to compare it to an evolved scary of today is straight up retarded. The Industry evolved over time this isn't 1979 anymore also When I say scary I don't mean I have to check under my bed for a boogie monster every night I mean it gives a jump or a feeling of fear which is what a scary movie is supposed to invoke.

Watching Alien I thought great classic sci-fi but not for its horror elements. When I see the so called scary atmospheric you are referring I find myself getting bored looking at the watch and having to fast forward otherwise I feel like I am going to fall asleep. The jump scares had me laughing its actually unwatchable anymore. The dinky cgi models look like they were made by 12 year olds.

I sincerely wish you speedy recovery for thinking that Alien is in top scariest movies. God bless and hope you don't hold your moms hand when you crossing the road its a scary world out there.

I was 9 and only made it through the opening scene, which was pretty scary. The rest of the movie was more comedy than horror, but I didn’t make it that far to realise that.

When I first watched it, when I was 9, Scream was legit the scariest thing I’d ever seen and I only got to the opening scene. I was literally traumatised for months if not years after it. I watched it a few more times after that with friends at sleepover birthday parties and that and realised it wasn’t as scary as the first traumatic time I had watched it, but still pretty damn scary.

I re-watched it recently, as well as the others in preparation for the new Scream movie and I had not realised before (because I was likely so young) but it’s actually more dark comedy than it is horror. I sat there and laughed more often than I was sitting in suspense. I feel similarly with I Know What You Did Last Summer as well, but obviously not as humorous.

Now that I can wipe that off my list of scary movies, I’d have mine as:

Blair Witch Project
Paranormal Activities (more jump scare than actual terrifying)
Hereditary
