Season 2 of vampire diaries, both klaus and elijah mentioned tatia. They were both in love with her at one point. First time he met katherine, elijah remarked that she reminded him of someone (tatia)
Season 3 of vampire diaries, rebekah talking about dopplegangers in regards to tatia, said that the original one was much prettier. Klaus and Elijah again talk about how they fell in love with her and fought for her.
She was mentioned in season 5 as well. So it's not like they sprung this out of no where.

His host is a witch. The mother and two sons are inhabiting witches, so they have their magic. That's their mother's master plan, to place them in the bodies of witches.

she was a part of the team but yeh its not gonna impact the show or my opinion of it

Why would they not have the knowledge of their hosts? that's pretty much universal canon for possession.

she mentioned how she "stored" away her magic and dont practice it. it makes sense cause witches from the gemini coven steal magic from other witches as seen from the guy that prevented bonnie from goin back home

rick's girls is probably related to that dude, perhaps he is her brother

yup this episode pretty much confirmed that their brothers and sisters lol

damm bonnie sent the bear home and let damon know shes stilll alive

kinda feel bad for damon that he had to tell elena tat "they went home" on the day it rained when it was actaully one of the best moments betwene them
