You mean the super unbalanced expansion that turned half the player base into death knights?
Or maybe you mean the fact that it drastically reduced the difficulty of the game, basically insulting veteran players who would be the only ones still playing after the 'new game' syndrome died off?
Or let's talk about how the blizzard wow team then went on to ruin diablo 3 and only released 1-2 major contect patches after ros because "thinking of new ideas is hard" so they are no longer working on anything new for d3 (seriously this interview was the most whiney thing I have ever read, go find it if you don't believe me). Yeah it is hard when you design yourself into a fucking corner that you can't get out of because of your shit design philosophy.
i know d3 sucks. but im going to have to disagree that wotlk sucked.
the initial raids werent that great but still had fun. i thought ulduar was amazing. i actually enjoyed toc and icc was great.
as far as pvp goes i wasnt really hardcore only did 3s once and didnt break too far past 2k, i remember deadly season dks/pallys were broken but then they got rid of competitive 2s so meh. and i know pve items dominated in pvp so i guess that was a shit show. but as far as pve it was a great expac.
not to sound like a hippie but unfortunately its all capitalism now. theres no point in spending money generating content/unique ideas in wow or d3 when theyre already making money by not doing anything. d3/ros sold a shitton of copies though of course a lot of that was hype from d2.
