Lets assume everyone is at an age to have kids (unrealistic) and also there is a complete 50/50 split off the sexes(also unrealistic), and also all future generations will be born at similar times(again unrealistic). And also assume 80 is the age people die at with no variation(unrealistic still) and no more criminals to get floated. And 20 years between generations. This will give us the maximum number of people alive at any one time.
2000 people(who will all be dead)
1000 kids from the 2000(all will be dead)
500 from the 1000.
250 from the 500.
125 from the 250.
Introduction of a 2 child per family rule to keep population up.
125 people will have 124 children.
500+250+125+124=999 in 100 years.
Easily under 900 if you account for early deaths, criminals, accidental deaths, etc.
