It's the only way he can get attention. The mere insignificance of his existence has left him devastated with a low grade inferiority complex and vulgar symtoms of narcissism. On a very basic level, he understands that he will never get recognition for creating something or making somebody happy, simply because he does not possess the faculties to accomplish such a positive thing. And so, he has made himself to be somebody who yearns for admiration, but has no way of obtaining it. Our ire, in fact, is his measuring stick of his worth.
Probably this has stemmed from his frustrated attempts to fornicate with his mother.
