If I didn't know I was part of a story plot and there was a Rick's Gang that had to succeed in killing me (because they're such good guys right?), I would be Negan 100%. His system isn't an eden by any stretch however it's far from full-on warhammer 40k fanatical purifier levels of fascism, and while times may not be as tough as they are in that universe... they are pretty tough, and a degree of collectivism would be necessary for survival given the circumstances, especially if you don't want to end up like Rick's group and having everything constantly burst into flames like djman72 points out.

the new doctor that arrived at hilltop: that could be me or you, all those folks from the governor's town, that joined rick's people, could be me or you, etc. etc. etc. With negan, you're either a slave or you're dead. No other options, he will even actively prevent you from moving out of his neighbourhood.
There's a big difference between slavery and being a protectorate. I also wouldn't consider the situations the saviors themselves are in to even be an approximation of slavery. It's not complete liberty, but can you honestly expect a liberal paradise to exist in this world? Everyone has to do their part in every group, Ricks is no exception. Everyone also has their own interests and in both groups they are free to pursue them as long as that thing doesn't run counter to the good of that group and their way of life. Rick has shown he's capable of putting down usurpers in the past, Shane and Pete for example, what makes Negan such a bad guy in comparison? The fact that he uses a baseball bat instead of a gun?
