The australians will land with their tamed zombie-roo cavalry wielding dundee knives and win back civilization. In the future, crocodile farms will be common all over the world. The end.

This would be a better plot than what is actually happening.

Kirkman has stated that non-human animals can't get zombified by this virus. Which, when you think about it, actually gives other animals a real chance to become the dominant species when this is all over.

Since you mentioned Australia, consider this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emu_War

If the human military lost a war to Emus in 1932, it's reasonable to assume that both humans and zombies could struggle with them in the TWD world. So we could be headed for a future in which the world is dominated by Emus.

Regarding CAN'T GET ZOMBIFIED - consider this, many virusses were transmitted through birds and pigs and other animals, the virus mutated and humans could get that variant, the other way around happens to in reality. Especially in countries like china, where pigs, birds and humans are packed togeher very tightly in large areas. So if the writer says it can't happen in that fictional universe, that's ok, but then that fictional universe is that much further away from reality. My money is that this was decided for practical reasons, imagine zombie crows and seagulls, humans wouldn't have single chance against that kind of 3 dimentional attack aswell as the difficulty of making good television from it (remember the CGI tiger?)

anyway, go emu's! :p

Just because certain viruses can cross species doesn’t mean all viruses follow such trends. In actuality most viruses are species specific and it takes fair amount of mutation within a cycle to cross species.

Mute point, show has still gone to shit

Nope. He will get cured by eating Eugene's whole jar of primo cukes. The rest of the season will focus on them trying to replicate the process of making cukes that cure the virus, but they will never be able to get a batch that primo again.
