I agree with your criticisms about seemingly unlimited ammo after guns were such a huge issue last season/had to go to garbage ppl to try to get guns, etc. Survival is no longer a focus of the show...it's just conflict with other groups. To have story progression, I get that it has to happen though. If every episode was just trying not to get eaten by walkers/finding food, it'd get really old really fast, and we'd be complaining about that. Zombies have no character development, so for antagonists, you almost have to rely on other living humans.
I still tune in every week to watch, and I still enjoy it, but there are definitely moments that cause eye-rolling.
Most shows have these moments. Newest season on GoT was way worse than Walking Dead currently
First show that comes to kind that didn't have these moments is The Wire
