They didn't slow light with cold iirc, read that article a while ago. They used some sort of crystal.
With that being said, laser hallways like that are absurd anyways, if you can have one why is there an issue freezing it?
What they did was reduce the temperature to near absolute zero to slow down lasers to a near stand still compared to their previous speed, the crystals were used to house the device. Given that absolute zero cannot actually happen in a normal environment, a gun that can reduced it's target to absolute zero is physically impossible in our reality. Given what the cold gun does and what real scientists have accomplished, it's not a stretch for them to do that here. Which was all I was bringing up with that article. But yes, the mere existence of said laser hallway is absurd, so any other issues stemming from it are kind of superfluous at this point. Not to mention all the other physics defying things in both comic book universes.
I've seen a lot of people going apeshit over the lasers.... given everything they've seen, that something so minor gives them pause is just
