Cringing at anyone who finds any 90's and older flicks "scary". Quite a few good classics named so far, but none are scary for me, which really boils down to the individual. It is whatever speaks to their fears, does the trick.
And as for the startling bit, I don't personally consider that scary. I have been waiting for many years for an awesome horror to come out. I keep getting disappointed though. Rather discouraging. I fucking love horror films, but it seems nobody can make a spot on one.
So over the "need" to have gay couples n shit in movies. I have seen more men kiss on fucking TV in the last like, 2-3 years, then I have in the remainder of my life. I am over 30, when that shit wasn't put on TV. Call me insensitive or a gay hater, idgaf. I know my standpoint.
OP: be sure to check out "The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It", it is the newest one I believe. I too enjoy the conjuring. Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson are a balling actor/actress combo.
