Diablo 3 is completely item based. And the leaderboards are dominated by the same builds. Not just the same skills, no 100% the same builds. There are not that many options. You pick a set, wear all items. Choose the skill that comes with it. And permafarm for better items. That is all there is to it. Well in Diablo 2 you had the option to go and do whatever you want. Calling D2 not a challenge? What in the have you been doing in D3, there isn't a game that is more linear than D3. Walk the line, equip set. Pick skill that goes with it. Kill things = infinite repeat. In Diablo you cannot gear a char in a day let alone lvl it to max lvls. And really paragon points, who are we kidding.
On topic. I don't care for WoW and I won't be watching the movie.
leadboards don't represent the larger based community. Leaderboards represent the best, and the best, no matter what game it is, will nearly always use the current best builds.....
Diablo 3, you can still go and do whatever you want..... You can still be successful in the game using different builds and gear than the "best people."
I will agree, that diablo 3 storymode is more linear than diablo 2, however diablo 3 offers MUCH more variants of pve.
Diablo 2, was the same grind..... And hitting mid 90s in one day was easy. Going to 99 was a complete waste of time.
Diablo 2 wasn't a challenge. I'm talking about the level of difficulty of PVE. PVE in diablo 3 is scaled are a much harder level in general. You cannot logically argue this.
Both games require grinding gear, forever......The biggest difference is, diablo 3 is currently being supported by patches/expansions so new gear will be available until the game stops being supported.
