The show has horrible direction and it's convoluted. The end on a shocker to keep people tuned in.
I mean really, that fucking episode started out with a close up on Vince Vaugn's fat face telling a dull story for like 7 straight minutes as he lay in bed. The crime solving is non-existent, some people in a room and "I'm going to go home". I guess it should be expected when the director is the guy from the fast and the furious movies.
Also, without looking it up, can you name the main characters of this show? I know Ray is Colin Farrell's character and that's because I saw the imdb page after EP1. I just refer to them as biker dude and Rachel McAdams. They are so uninteresting, just bland. From the start of S1 we know Rust and Marty, they spend time explaining who they are through monologues, we know rust is nicknamed the taxman.
like I said, show has no direction.
I disagree... I think these episodes have been about character buildup so far which is good and I think we may have our direction as clear as day after this episode.
I knew Ray and Frank pretty quick too... the other two aren't engrained yet for me. It takes longer to build up four characters instead of two though. I'd at least give this to the halfway point.
