The ratings on rotten tomatoes ARE reviews.

It's pretty simplistic that the reviews are either rotten or fresh, and based on those two factors, a percentage is averaged. It's straightforward.

You know when you scroll down and you see some rotten symbols, you see some fresh tomatoes, paired with a short bit of text? Hey! Those texts are small blurbs to a review! It says read full review!

the AVERAGE RATING is what i was challenged on you know the numbers not fresh or rotten, im talking about the ratings

The percentages are based on the fresh vs rotten. They are in direct correlation.

The average is the consensus between people who rate the movie as rotten, 59% or below, or fresh, 60% or above.

and again these numbers mean nothing, just a rating without context, hench my original statement rt ratings dont mean shit

It's set up slightly different than lets say, a metacritic score. It is still not that complicated.....

Which do you look at first? Do you read every single review to see if the average makes sense? If not then going by the average rating means nothing.
