I thought Jane would've asked him to do a few rounds of rock paper scissors to verify if he's really red John, cuz the voice... that's just the same shit they pulled with season 3. and honestly I thought the end of fake Red John of season 3 was so much better than the real one

The writers writ themselves in a corner with this. And I feel like they were grasping at straws when they decided to make him RJ. almost anything they said about Red John doesn't fit McAlister at all.
And really... no call back nor flashbacks, no explanations, no evil scheme revealing part, no "YOU AND I CAN RULE THIS CITY" momment... Just a "I am Red John now die!!! oh shit, pigeon, my one weakness".
And that whole woman part who tries to kill Jane was unnecessary, she failed and RJ dies anyway

just feels like a stupid filler on time, death in a church would've been a lot more symbolic than in a park.
The rest of the season will fall, there's nothing redeeming about it. The one character that brought this series alive has been playing a suicidal sick sack of shit for the past 2 seasons. Simon Baker is a great actor, but Patrick Jane is just not the character he used to be.
