Walter is a brilliant schemer, but he does act on impulse a lot. Like, when Hank thought Gale was Heisenberg and the case was down, Walt (full of alcohol and pride) basically tells Hank he thinks Heisenberg is still out there... there's no benefit to that. Plus all those times he berates Jesse to get him fired up, he's clearly pissed off and lost his composure in those moments. Also shooting Mike was completely impulsive and he regretted it immediately. So I definitely don't put it past him to have emotional outbursts and do things he regrets.
I also happen to think that Walt wasn't as careful with Brock's dosage as he led Jesse to believe. He bullshits Jesse all the time to sway him, like when he told him their barrel of methylaime was "going bad" so they could go into the desert and cook.
Those are true and are examples of things Walt did that make me like him less.
In tonight's episode, he may hay have impulsively taken his daughter and regretted it, which would make me like him less. He may have taken her with the plan of using her to freak Skylar out. If that is the case, I would like him more. Both are possibilities in my mind.
