I guess I'm part of the minority that liked the cliffhanger ending.

It was very smart imo. A lot of people will watch TWD no matter what but a lot of people wait to watch episodes, like netflix or torrenting. With the cliffhanger everyone is going to want to know who dies as soon as it happens. Especially in today's Internet age. 10 seconds after it will be all over social media. I'm sure kids on here will try spoiling it in lure topics.

Plus cliffhangers create discussions. Look at all the people talking about who got killed. People even made videos about trying to figure it out.

It is a lock to have a record amount of viewers.


It is also awesome because it pissed off a lot of whiney pussies.

Your logic only makes sense if the death is anyone besides Glenn.

If Glenn is the one who dies, then there was no cliffhanger because anyone who cares as much as you describes has known it for months (or years)

You do realize this show is far greater than that comic book ever will be?

It is the most watched show ever. There are a ton of people who have never read the comic and still watch the show. Even if it is still Glenn my point remains. It is still a cliffhanger.

I never read the comic book and only watch the show.

If it's Glenn who dies, I will have known it for months. Even before the last finale, the way the plot was evolving, things have been leading up to Glenn's death in a very obvious fashion.

It will only be a surprise for the extremely casual viewers that don't really care.

No it isn't. Walking dead is. 24.8 million world wide versus 12.2 million. Even if they use HBO's metric for view count(they include on demand and HBO go) they still barely broke 20 million compared to the walking dead.
Walking dead has actually beat out sunday night football, which was top of the charts at 22 million followed by the big bang theory at 20.4 million. It's not to say game of thrones isn't good, but they're not the most watched show.

all depends on the metric you wanna use to define 'most watched'. The industry has its own way define it and that serves their purpose. Do their stats count the people who watch TWD on Netflix? Does it count the people who pirate the shows? Of course not.

TWD may have a paper trail that shows more people tuned in on their TV, but I bet that more human beings end up watching each GoT episode.
