Possibly true. Think about it this way:

If they had been subjugated under Negan's control and been giving them half their resources for protection ever since our group got to Alexandria, would the Wolves attack ever have happened? Would Jesse still be alive?

Aaron said, when he was recruiting Rick, that their greatest resource was people. Well, defending yourself from walkers/other people costs you people, as evidenced by the Wolves attack. Hilltop said that the Saviors were charging them for "protection" (sarcastic use of that term). If they can give Negan resources in exchange for "protection", even if it is essentially being subjugated into slavery, it may be a better deal. It's better to give Negan plants than lose people while having to defend yourself.

If Genghis Khan-like figure could come along, then maybe a political system by which people pay steep resource taxes could put the world back together.

Interesting thoughts for sure. The critique is that we now have the privilege of hindsight in this scenario that primitive humans lacked.

Why make the episode 90 minutes long?

Could have literally saved 85 minutes of my life by shrinking it down. Never before have I kicked off about TWD because I love it, but that episode was weak as shit for a finale, and the writers should be embarrassed.

Nothing disappointing about that ending. Has any of you ever watched a season finale in your life? The point is to draw you back for next season. If Glenn or even Daryl die at that moment, then the season ends, you still have to wait to find out the impact it's going to have on the group. Now we have to expect a pretty damn good beginning to next season. I'm so glad none of you conplainers are the creator or directors of this show, lol.

The show has a very very loyal fan base, they dont need to draw us back. The previous episode ended with a cliffhanger of sorts and still no resolution on that either.

That moment is one of the most iconic moments of the series and all the hype will be lost when it is leaked who was killed sometime between now and the season 7 premiere.

The fact that Saviors know so much still nags me.

How did they know the surprise attack from done by our group? How did they know we were heading to the Hilltop right then? How do they know there is any connection between us and Hilltop?

Hilltop MUST have told them. Once Rick realized they knew where we were going, he should be also realized it was pointless to try and evade them. They would just find us there anyways.

The whole setup of the episode is missing some explanation.

All very valid.

As for the case of ricks in relentless quest to get there, I think the point was to really show how much he thought of himself and his group. At the end of the episode Rick was mentally destroyed and looked like breaking down. His whole world has been destroyed. As much as this episode annoyed I thought they did that element well. I'll be interested to see how his character adapts next season

They had Glenn, Daryl and Michonne. I could be assumed they would come looking for them.

Also they already lost a lot of men to them and most likely suspected the were in cahoots with the Hilltop. So it would be common sense to cut off access routes.

Who was the guy hung from the bridge? Saviors were torturing, interrogating, assume he had to give them some information.

I'm against any form of Communism and wealth distribution.

agreed, like that scene where they piled up 2+ ton trees 15 feet high in order to block a road so that they could scare a few people

That would take a couple cranes and waste a lot of gas and manpower but I guess the Apocalypse doesn't stop men from stupid ideas.

The bolded statement is kinda my point. Why would they think that unless Hilltop told them something?

My impression was he was just a random guy from a tiny group they were bullying and his origin had no larger significance to the plot.
