Why did Baelish bother giving Bran the dagger? There's no chance he know Bran would turn around and give it to Arya. The best thing I can come up with is that it was Baelish's way of gloating (i.e. saying that I'm the one who sent the assassin and there's nothing you can do about it)

I'm puzzled too. He told Catelyn the dagger was his and he lost it to Tyrion in a bet which started the whole chaos.
Why give it back now and lie about not knowing it's first owner..
There's got to be some huge revelation in next episodes..

well bran knows he sent the assassin. From what it looks just away to try and talk with bran. But bran gave him the cold shoulder.

Well for now looks like he knows and doesn't care (cause he's three eyed raven) but has to be more to it..
