I don't see how anyone could even question whether the main group are still the "good guys". To the best of their knowledge, based on multiple interactions, our group has reason to believe the Saviors are terrorizing others.

This attack was essentially the same thing as George Washington's surprise attack on Dec 25, 1776. When you are at war, good people have to do bad things. The TWD universe happens to be devoid of official governments, but "bring us Gregory's head" was essentially a Declaration of War. When Germany invaded Poland, Britain declared war on Germany and it was the right thing to do.

The only real question coming out of this whole situation is whether the "good people who had to do bad things" are going to be damaged emotionally by their experience.

so basically, morgan and rick disagreed at the meeting and it turns out they were both wrong

rick thought that a preemptive strike would eliminate the threat, but he hadn't assessed the enemy.
