Whether you like it or not, the show has made zombies a minimal threat now. A team of <10 held off hundreds of zombies at melee for a significant duration with no casualties.

Overall I enjoyed the episode but in hindsight there are several aspects to this episode I think we're poorly done , and I consider myself a very avid fan.

Odd, I was saying the exact opposite to myself last night. During that scene I was thinking "I can't believe they still haven't become as adept with melee weapons as medieval soldiers were."

Zombies are slow, weak, predictable, unarmed, unarmored foot soldiers. One decent knight would have been able to cut them down like a hot knife through butter. If the show was being more realistic, all it would take is a decent amount of practice with a scythe or polearm, and 3 people could walk through and deflect a horde of zombies as if they were casually working an assembly line.

Our reactions aren't the same but you're not necessarily saying the opposite. Your stance is just in line with the creators in trying to make the walkers a bit less lethal.

I'm saying that the show has gone out of its way to maximize the threat that zombies pose to people who have been fighting for years. They are more lethal than I should they should be.

I think you said the opposite:

The history of the show in "maximizing" zombie threat does not correspond with the statement

I said precisely the zombie threat faced now has decreased compared to what it was previously. What you are saying is the previous threat was inflated but either way that results in a decreased threat they now face if the last episode sets precedent

Ok, i kinda see what you are saying, but would you not expect them to get better at fighting as the years go on?

Zombies is one of the main themes.

But now it's mostly about survival after the apocalypse.

Hence, more relevance to rival groups than threat of zombies.

As kayeto said, a well trained melee fighter could easily make quick mince out of that horde.
I mean, in reality, a lot of those zombies would be stuck to the ground a long time ago. Muscle, bone and connective tissue breakdown to the extreme, and weathering the elements too.

If you want more healthy zombie action, good timing on their part to bring out Fear.

Yeah I think they would get better but it isn't black and white. Several vs hundreds of zombies with no casualties (and all of those members were not veterans like rick and michone, many were barely trained casuals) just confirms the nonthreat of zombies from here on.

Although I agree with what you said ...I guess my issue really is that many of the fighters were not well trained melee experts and still managed to fend off the horde.
