They're though. They haven't been bad movies, but to call them great is reaching hard. Force Awakens got a fucking 92%. While I agree that it was an enjoyable movie, it's nowhere near that good. a 6.5-7.5/10 is all Episode 7 and Rouge One deserved. We'll see if 8 is any better, but I can't imagine them doing much to improve on the first installment with such weak leading characters and one of the whiniest villains of all time, he's even worse than Anakin. Hopefully the dialogue is at least a little better in 8 than it was in Rouge One, still having trouble wrapping my head around some of those cheesy as fuck lines/scenes that made it past final edits.
I don't want to start anything but, I think Kylo is GREAT so far. You can depict him as whiny, but I see him as a struggling, unbalanced user of the force who just wants to prove himself. I am excited to see where his character takes him, and how he develops. He's beyond an imperfect villain, and we don't see that a lot in movies.
Every Star Wars movie, INCLUDING the originals, had cheesy lines and scenes. We forget and
let it go without notice because they are the originals, and people tend to love original movies no matter what. But after rewatching 4-6 the other week, there are more than enough similarities in those movies that are carried through with the rest of them including those cheesy lines and scenes.
