Market success is pretty much 100% based on marketing budget of the movie. Obviously there are a few exceptions but for the majority...

Nightcrawler my favorite movie of the last 5 years and barely anyone I know has seen it unless I tell them to
Was barely marketed. Or at least not correctly. Yet still an amazing movie.

Quality can mean different things for different movies. That's a vague, broad term and could be defined differently depending on your point of view.
