Would be better than a fucking WoW movie lol. Honestly, the one I'm waiting for is a SC movie, that'd be sick.

After prince of persia, the last airbender, attack on titan and dragon ball evolution I have lost all faith in the industry's ability to turn good, cool stories that I like into anything that even remotely resembles a watchable live action movie.

Persia was watchable, not good. But really, that game had a weak and convoluted story to begin with, not a great title to adapt from the get go. Last Airbender was M. Night Shyamalan, aka one of the worst directors who got famous because of one above average movie and then idiots kept giving him work.... Dragon Ball was another idiotic idea, they hired someone who knew nothing about DBZ, who openly apologized for writing the screenplay solely for the money without knowing ANYTHING about it and ofc AOT was shit, it's a Japanese anime adaption, those are always shit. I still believe that someone will hit it eventually and actually make this shit work. They just need to hire a writer/director who are actually passionate fans of the franchise and go from there.

Like I said, don't think it will happen. I'd love to see some of my favorite things done well on the big screen. But with practical effects essentially gone, and script writers that care more about making the same bullshit action/love triangle script over and over just set in a different world, I don't have much hope for big budget films anymore.

Indie has been making some great films lately though so at least there is that.

I don't disagree with the reasoning behind anything you said. Action shit is terrible these days for all your reasons, and game adaptations are particularly vulnerable to fall into every trap that makes them so bad.

That being said, if Warcraft is able to make it as far as the Arthas stuff, I have high hopes for that. That story is great. Metzen has so much experience telling it already, if he is involved then it has real potential to be good. I may even say the same thing about the Thrall and Illidan stories, as they are high quality as well.

Not that my opinion is one to take to the bank, but it seems that with movies that are made from video games, in general, are hard to make.

The game experience is so varied among its players that to make a movie that cannot touch on all these variances can cause the movie to let down a majority of its audience and the films usually do...

I think it's more of a particular movie is in the hands of the "wrong producer/director" and tends to be low budget making everything cheesy and over dramatized.

It's like they are trying to sell a particular video game to movie based on only the name and not putting quality work into it.
