ROFL. One of Ridley Scott's epic masterpieces, genuinely considered to be one of the greatest movies of all time, against 'Troy'.

this guy posted the same thing in hockey. lol. and we ended up having the same argument.

the best part is that OP came to a gaming forum to prove his friend wrong by popular opinion about a matter which is opinion based.

here the thread for the lols http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=71690691&f=203

But it does provide more endorphins

For you it does, not for everyone. Thus it's subjective.

If every living person on this planet prefered Gladiator over Troy i'd agree it's objectively the better film but this is not the case and will never be the case with any two films ever.

Every film can't aim to please the greatest number of people or you end up with a load of cookie cutters and people stop going to the cinema, so films aim to be the best for a specific genre or for a specific type of person

Correct and that's why using box office sales as a measure for quality is ridiculous.

I don't think anyone suggested that box office sales should be used, some films do well and are terrible

It is subjective but not for that reason. An orange provides more vitamin C for some people but isn't subjective.
Before you say an orange has the same amount of vitamin C to start with a movie has the same number of pixels, like everything it depends on what your body does with what it recieves

so ever person has to agree with something for it to be true, that's the point you draw the line? I proved with earlier examples that the odd persons opinion doesn't change the inherent reality of something for the rest of us

There may be two answers but this isn't a multiple choice question. Anyone that votes Troy needs to take a plane to switzerland and turn yourself in at the geneva convention for human rights violations.

We are not talking about everything here, there will allways be people that disagree with stuff that is good as proven such as the Holocaust for example. This topic however is not good as proven, it's up to the beholder to decide which is the best film because there is no good way of measuring the quality of a picture you keep claiming there is but you can't explain how it's done.
You haven't provided any decent examples of how you measure the quality of a film EXCEPT popularity and some other really vague suggestions, but when I call you out on it you agree that box office results is a poor way to measure how good a film is so im asking you again: How do you decide which is the best out of two films, what criterias do you use?

What it boils down to is this: If you can't scientifically prove something then it's not a fact, if it's not a fact you shouldn't pretend there's a right and wrong answer.

You can't prove art, it dosen't work.

You want to punish people for not liking a film, really?

I'm gunna assume your age is around 11? 10?
