Fine, then here's my short answer, though it doesn't really do my point justice. Your criticism over Debra's psychologically traumatized state as "exaggerated acting" is a reflection of your ruthless lack of value for human life, that you think it's okay to simply murder because of something as meagre as political corruption. I claim that her reaction properly reflects that of a human with typical modern moral standards.

Most cops would not be so blindsided with the fact of killing someone... Be different if Debra like accidentally shot a kid or something, but in the current situation no cop would act that out of control.

A cop does NOT have "typical moral standards". This argument would be completely different if we were talking about some house wife and not a cop who has already killed several people herself.

I find Debra reaction hard to believe as real.

Nobody has "typical moral standards" because nobody is a "typical person". Everyone has different reasons and experiences that make them see life differently. But look, cops kill people from self defence, because they were in a firefight, etc. Debrah killed Maria in cold blood, when she didn't have to kill anybody. She had the gun and the other two were helpless. Even Doakes, who was in special ops, was completely sickened by watching Dexter kill someone in cold blood (and I consider that reaction justified). And sure, there's the odd cop that joins the force in order to bust heads, rather than doing real police work. But, in fact, we know the character Debrah, and that she's firmly morally grounded person. Even if you think that most cops don't value human life as much, or wouldn't be as disillusioned with the death of an innocent as other people would (which is insane and completely baseless BTW), we still know that Deb is particular is a character who does value human life a good deal.

wow this psych lady is full on wacko.

Based on the latest episode...I think that she's:

1) in love with dexter
2) is probably the brain killer

I love how you keep typing as if your opinion = everyone but me. "we this", "we that"

Also deb specifically called Dexter to tell him to kill that chick while he was STILL in bed with her at that moment last season... "Firmly morally grounded person" my ass. Dexter had Deb well off that moral ground all last season.

Everyone is guilty of something... No one is truly innocent. Deb chose to shoot Maria. She had many options that would all have saved her brother without having to shoot him.

All part of poorly written drama that is Debra's character.

I really dont think she is. When they were first talking about it in the first episode the cut to a guy with a scar on the back of his head that appeared as though he had his brain cut open in a similar fashion to the victims. All they showed was a quick look at the back of his head though. This doesnt really confirm anything but i would imagine it was the killer.

I agree, debs sense of moral destruction would definitely trigger the same emotional trauma in most people.
That being said she never had to shoot laguerta in the first place, just walk away let Dexter do his thing or call the police.
