1) i dont remember anyone praising GoT for that move
2) that's a season ending cliffhanger so it's allowed to go a little higher on the stakes
3) jon's "death" isn't really a mystery anyway, they have the plot device to handle it written in for anyone who is paying attention. they set it up in season3 and reminded us again in that final episode as well.
