He's one of the few villainous characters with redeemable qualities. I'm sure he'll die at some point but he needs to turn on his sister first and go out like a boss.
The show started out by presenting him in a way that made the audience root against him, but I feel like it has a done a good job turning around to where he is anything but a villain.
Perhaps I am biased by the all the backstory provided in the books, but I find Jaime a completely sympathetic character. Considering the responsibility he was born into (youngest ever Kingsguard, son of a tyrant with ridiculous expectations), the fact that he fell in love+lust with his twin sister (one of the most manipulative women in the world) at a young age, his dyslexia and all the things he's gone through, I feel like he's holding a clear head pretty well with good judgement and good morals. He hasn't made a military mistake (losing to dragons doesn't count, they are hacks). Neither of his siblings hate him, which is an amazing accomplishment considering the divide that separates them.
