More like a fucking dragon broke their ranks. Without the dragon they would have been slaughtered charging in with no real armor like that.

speculation. There is no history on the dothraki screamer v westerosi knight matchup. The dragon turned what may have been a close match into a slaughter. There was some Jorah dialogue in past season that touched on how the unit counters are debatable at this point.

Best episode of the season by far. I could literally go scene by scene listing all the things I loved, but the way we are seeing stories go full circle is awesome. The dialogue was tight. Probably my favorite single moment was Davos' "fewer" correcting Jon.

I had forgotten how good looking Meera was, she's currently my #2 behind Missandei

some minor negatives:
The Arya combat was a bit on the cheesy side, but I assume Maisie just isn't cut out for an action scene (not trying to hate on her, it's just a reality when you cast young inexperienced actors that they aren't going to be great at everything)

The cave scene was a very rushed attempt at a historic backstory, it didn't come off as concincing for me.

Jamie's charge at the end was a typical lame cinematic tease, never for a second did any of us believe that any of the chars involved were going to get seriously hit. sidenote: Anyone else think that final shot of him in the water was reminiscent of the WoW Legion cinematic where Varian fell into the water with all his heavy armor on?

I actually liked Arya's fight scene. The only thing i considered to be a little off was her 'needle' hitting that big ass valerian blade and not going flying. Though, I guess you could just assume Arya was moreso using her waterdancing skills and redirecting the force of the blade.

Cave scene was fine too for what it was. It wasn't epic or anything, just a cool little detail

dany should´ve worn an armor and brought all 3 dragons, not really best time to save 2 of her best cards

show has to leave room for escalation

later we can see a multidragon fight and it will feel like a step up

She only needed the one dragon, look at the devastation it caused. Plus she doesn't have 2 other riders yet.

Honestly I wasn't sure whether Jamie would die there or not. I mean if you think of it in terms of generic fantasy writing, yes he has plot armor, but GoT/GRRM typically do away with conventional writing tropes. Jamie just learned a significant plot detail that could drastically change the world of westeros, killing him now before he reveals that information would 100% be GoT style.

GoT hasnt really done anything GRRM style in the past few seasons though. Not having books to lean on is showing a bit. Im still enjoying it though.

She only needs to use the needle to deflect it
She doesn't fully block anything and wouldn't be able to regardless of what she used

I like the warrior vs assassin dynamic
One uses overwhelming power and the other is nimble and goes for either small strikes or precise deadly strikes when the warrior leaves an opening

I honestly had no idea what the outcome of that large scale fight was going to be though
