idk. It seems like it would be more poetic for the druggie kid to have to bond with his stepdad through the crisis. Also, that stepdad is connected to the other family which is a plotline they setup and will obviously have to develop.

Thankfully, the daughter the the other mom he was talking to on the phone are hot, so we will have them to look forward to for awhile.

She looks 20+, which she probably is. In the show she is in her last year of highschool meaning 17ish.

It fits here, since its the same timeline and universe, this is just the prologue to TWD
