To be fair if u mean astapor i think it murdered 100 unarmed people all grouped up and not expecting to fight. it's basically like bringing a level 90 fireball sorc into normal cow level.
This time sure it got the jump and did well at first, but he was surrounded and people were armed.
While he definitely was smaller than we expected, i think the point of the scene was to 'humanize' the dragon a little and turn it into a character. Flying off with her obviously was just driving the point home that he has a special interest in protecting her and not others.
As for where she is going, well, it will probably be the season-ending cliffhanger if they are following the book so we'll see
It seemed to murder them very quickly back then, now it seems although it's size has increased it can barely produce more fire than when it was dog size. I was expecting it to be like the dragon from lord of the rings where spears can't pierce it's skin and only a special kind of weapon can hurt it.
