I've been reflecting on the cliffhanger and I don't think the kid is dead.

There was NO BLOOD on his chest. (at least from what I can recall...)...

I think he just got his wind knocked out of him.

I thought they couldn't just kill off Stark on Game of Thrones and they did.

I thought the same thing watching it in my room, went into the living room and one of my roomies had it paused so he was behind.
There was blood, you can see it spurt from his stomach right before he falls. It's possible he was just winged, or hit with buckshot or killed on the spot.
The previews from the season showed the mother laying next to him and he looked really pale, so he's either dead or close to it.
