Is Wind River really that good? Going to have to watch that shit right away I guess.
This ceremony is always a joke. No reason to care about the opinions of these kinds of people, but it doesn't seem like anything is that out of place. There weren't that many great movies this past year. I haven't seen Wind River yet, so maybe my mind will change and I'll feel like there was at least one major snub (there usually is). I do feel like anyone complaining about Dunkirk is clueless though. Anyone who was expecting Saving Private Ryan has only themselves to blame for not knowing anything about history, and the things it got nominated for are things that make sense. The other thing is I just don't understand the hate for Get Out. Only sensible argument/problems I've heard are about the trailers showing farrrrrrrrrrr too much of the story, but if you went into that movie blind like I did and like most critics did (or even without being blind), it was a well done movie with strong performances, an entertaining story, and enough of a twist to make a horror movie not too painfully predictable, like the majority of films within the genre. It was solid all around, and as I already stated, in an otherwise weak year, of course an above average movie with a black lead who did a great job and a black director is going to get some Oscar love in 2018, that's just commonsense. You fucks saw the ratings Black Panther got right? That movie wasn't even good lol.
Honestly I think Dunkirk is probably one of the best actual war movies out there. I really didn't enjoy watching it, it was just a depressing mess to me. But I mean that's part of the reason as to why it's a good movie.
Wind River is great, also I'm biased because I think Renner is awesome (easily the best/only good part of the Avengers movies).
It's a tense and moving film, also the end has a pay off that you rarely get. It feels right and...not at the same time. Can't really say more without ruining it, even that might be a bit much.
